Built by one person, as a gift

Pear isn't a startup or a team. It's a gift Clark Jhian Fadel built for his girlfriend, Yeshia — a private little space for the two of them, now shared with anyone who wants one of their own.

Most apps want your attention. Pear wants you to put your phone down and look at the person across from you. The app is here for the in-between — the texts you forget to send, the moods you don't have words for, the photos that never make it to anyone but you two.

Three things it's built on

01

Love is private

No public profiles. No discover page. No analytics on your moods. Your space is yours — completely.

02

Small over loud

Quick check-ins beat long apps. A 3-second mood. A 1-tap ping. A 30-second voice note. Small things, daily.

Pear

Built to keep

What you put into Pear should be there in 10 years. Exports any time. Your memories are yours, forever.

How Pear got started

Pear started as a gift. Before it, the only app Clark and Yeshia ever shared was Life360 — they could see where the other was, but there was nowhere for everything else: the notes, the photos, the small moments. Clark didn't want to forget the memories they were making, so he built a place to keep them — something that wasn't flowers or chocolate, but might still be there in ten years.

So he made a small private space just for the two of them: a day counter, a place for letters, their photos, their moods. He called it relationship.clarkfadel.com.

It was only ever meant to be theirs. But a few people who saw it asked if they could have one too — so Clark rebuilt it properly, so any two people could have a quiet, private corner of their own. He called it Pear. It's still made and maintained by one person.

It's just me — one person, building slowly. I add a feature only when it helps two people stay close, never to make a number go up. — Clark Jhian Fadel

The values we work by

  • Private by default. Every line of code starts with the question: "is this only between the two of them?"
  • Slow software. I'd rather ship one feature beautifully than ten features that almost work.
  • No dark patterns. No artificial urgency. No infinite scroll. No notifications that aren't real.
  • Honest pricing. Free forever for the basics. Pear+ for couples who want more.
  • Memories belong to you. Export any time. Delete any time. I don't own what you make.
