Terms of use

The short version

By using Pear, you agree to a few common-sense things: be over 16, treat your partner well, don't try to break the app, and we'll keep your data private and try our best to keep Pear running smoothly. Below is the longer version.

Your account

• You must be at least 16 to use Pear.
• You're responsible for keeping your password secure. If someone gains access to your account, that's on you.
• One account per person. Couples link via invite codes.
• If you give your account to someone else (e.g. share a password), we treat their actions as yours.

Your content

• You own everything you put into Pear. Photos, letters, journal entries, moods — all yours. We don't claim any rights to them.
• You grant us a limited license to store, display, and back up your content — solely for the purpose of running the service.
• If you delete your account, we delete your content within 30 days.
• You're responsible for the content you upload. Don't upload anything illegal, harmful, or someone else's copyrighted work.

What you can't do

• Don't try to scrape, reverse-engineer, or break into Pear.
• Don't use Pear to harass, threaten, or harm another person — including your partner.
• Don't impersonate someone else.
• Don't try to make a business out of Pear by automating accounts.

What we'll do

• Keep Pear running as best we can. We aim for 99.9% uptime.
• Take backups daily. Restore quickly if something breaks.
• Never sell your data. Never show you ads. Never train AI on the contents of your space.
• Be transparent — when something changes, we tell you here and on the changelog.

What we can't promise

• Pear is provided "as is." We don't guarantee perfection.
• Sometimes things break. When they do, we fix them as fast as possible.
• We're not liable for any damages from using Pear — emotional, financial, or otherwise. (Standard legal stuff.)

If you're using Pear+

• Pear+ is billed in advance. Yearly or monthly, your choice.
• You can cancel any time. You keep Pear+ until the end of your billing period.
• 14-day refund window on new charges. Email hello@pear.app.
• If we change Pear+ pricing, your existing rate is locked in for at least 12 months.

Account suspension

We may suspend or terminate an account if it's used for harassment, illegal activity, or to harm Pear or its other users. We'll try to give a warning when possible. Refunds aren't given for suspensions related to misuse.

Changes to these terms

We update these terms occasionally. When we do, we'll email you and post a notice in the app at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use means you accept the new terms.
