End-to-end private
Your Pear space is visible only to the two of you. No staff, no AI, no algorithms peek at your letters or moods.
No ads, ever
We don't sell ads. We don't sell data. We don't have a 'partner network.' Pear is paid for by people who choose Pear+, and that's it.
Yours to take
Export everything any time — letters as PDFs, photos as ZIPs, your whole space as JSON. Your memories belong to you, forever.
What we collect
The shortest answer: as little as possible.
- Account info: your email, your password (hashed with bcrypt — even we can't read it), your display name.
- Your space content: letters, moods, photos, journal entries, and anything else you add. Stored privately, encrypted in transit.
- Usage signals: basic crash reports and aggregate "feature X was opened" counts. Never tied to your identity. You can opt out in settings.
What we don't collect
- We don't run analytics on the contents of your letters, journal, or notes.
- We don't track you across the web. No third-party ad pixels, no Facebook SDK, no Google Analytics.
- We don't share, sell, or rent your data. Ever. To anyone.
Who can see your data
Just you and your partner. The two people in your couple. That's it.
Staff at Pear cannot view your content. The database is structured so each couple's space is fully isolated. The only time a human at Pear would touch your data is if you write us asking for help and explicitly grant temporary access — and even then, we'd only look at what's needed to fix your problem.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored on servers in the EU and US (depending on where you signed up). Photos and videos are stored on encrypted CDN storage. Backups are taken daily and retained for 30 days.
How long we keep it
As long as you have an account, your data stays. If you delete your account, we delete everything within 30 days. (We keep deleted data for 30 days only so you can change your mind — after that, it's gone for good.)
Cookies
We use one cookie: a session token to keep you logged in. That's it. No tracking cookies, no advertising cookies, no third-party cookies.
Your rights
- Access: see everything we have on you any time from the app — Settings → Your data.
- Export: download your data as JSON, photos as ZIP, letters as PDFs — also from Settings.
- Delete: wipe your account and all data in one tap. You can also use delete-account on the web if you can't open the app.
- Ask us anything: email privacy@pear.app with any privacy question.
If you're a couple breaking up
This is hard. We've thought about it.
- Either of you can leave the couple. The other person keeps the space. Or you both leave and the space is deleted within 30 days.
- Before leaving, you can export your own contributions (letters you wrote, photos you uploaded, etc.) to keep.
- We'll never share one partner's information with the other if you ask us to keep it private — e.g. private journal entries stay private even from your ex.
